Blog
A blog is the part of a website where a company publishes articles on an ongoing basis: guides, analyses, news and other content that has no natural home on a sales page or a landing page.
In SEO, the blog answers the questions customers ask before they are ready to buy. Product pages capture the people who already know what they are looking for. Articles capture everyone else. Each thorough article is another entrance to the site, and together they build topical authority: the search engine learns that the domain covers its field properly, and that authority reaches the commercial pages through internal links.
AI search made the role larger. When ChatGPT or AI Overviews assemble an answer, they draw on exactly the kind of explanatory content a good blog consists of, and they cite the sources that explain a subject best.
The line worth drawing is between a blog and an archive of posts. Cadence alone builds nothing. A blog carries business when every article answers a real search intent with real demand and therefore has a job to do, and one article that covers its topic exhaustively outperforms five shallow ones, with Google and with the language models alike. How a blog post comes together in practice is covered in the beginner's guide to blog posts.
