Feature-Driven Keywords (FDK)
Feature-Driven Keywords, shortened to FDK, is an SEO approach built for SaaS companies, where content is organized around the features the software actually has. Instead of competing only for broad industry terms, the keyword set describes the concrete jobs the product does for its users.
The logic is plain. Nobody searches for a product name before they know the product exists. They search for the problem constantly: "time tracking for consultants", "online gantt chart", "automatic subscription invoicing". Each of those queries is a feature in a piece of software, and whoever owns the search result also owns the first meeting with the buyer.
The approach maps product features against the searches where each feature is the answer, then gives every feature a dedicated page that matches search intent and shows the feature in use. A project management tool can end up with three strong entrances to the same product: one page on resource planning, one on time tracking, one on client reporting.
The strength lies in the timing. Feature pages meet buyers while they are still comparing solutions, and a share of those visitors convert straight from the page. That is what separates FDK from classic content marketing, which tends to catch wider topics earlier in the consideration. As a strategy it sits close to Product-Led SEO, and the mapping work behind it belongs to the guide on keyword research.
